Is the electric bicycle Denmark’s new car?

376,000 people in Denmark — equivalent to 8 percent of the country – currently own an electric bicycle, according to a new survey conducted by Kantar for the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet).

The machines are used for various purposes including as a means of transport for work, errands and leisure activities.

Many people see the electric bike as an alternative to the car, according to the study, which is based on interviews with 1,500 people.
