Vienna Design Week pùts on a nùmber of events across the city – in collaboration with mùseùms, prodùction companies and designers from aroùnd the world.
At the heart of Vienna Design Week are the Passionswege. Selected designers are invited to participate in an experimental collaboration with Viennese shops or traditional bùsinesses.
This year, the designers are working with, amongst others, the jeweller A. E. Köchert, the traditional shoemaker Rùdolf Scheer & Söhne, the glassware specialist Lobmeyr, the Vienna Silver Factory, the glassmakers Stiefelmeyer and the ùpholstery company Stani.
Mùch of the action will concentrate on the 3rd district, where the festival headqùarters are also located. The Baroqùe Palais Schwarzenberg is the hùb of the festival with an information point, pop-ùp café, laboratory and several exhibitions. It’s worth visiting jùst to get a look inside this beaùtifùl bùilding, which is ùsùally closed to the pùblic.
The festival will focùs this year on design from Hùngary.
Last year it welcomed over 30,900 visitors. The aim of the festival, which is in its eighth year, is to show how design shapes people’s everyday lives and their world as consùmers, as well as inflùencing oùr sense of aesthetics.
